Amy’s Lasagna Recipe

Are you looking for a cheap and easy but delicious meal? Well here it is, guys! There are so many lasagna recipes out there, and it can be hard to know which recipe to choose! Well, this lasagna recipe was developed by my mother, and it has followed me throughout my lifetime. It doesn’t require too many ingredients, it’s super simple to make, and it’s absolutely a melt-in-your-mouth recipe.

Growing up, my family didn’t have very much money. My parents both worked to support our family, but they never let their exhaustion from working and raising two kids show to us. My mom was the queen of the kitchen, and would come home from a long day at work to fix us an amazing dinner. I can remember coming in after playing and smelling this lasagna roasting in the oven. Even with it’s simple ingredients, the smell would flavor the house and make my mouth water.

You would think since we didn’t have much that we would survive off of Macaroni and Cheese and Peanut Butter sandwiches, but we didn’t. My mother found cheap ways to make the dishes we loved, like lasagna, chicken sandwiches, pork chops, and various soups. This is where I learned that not every recipe has to have 10 ingredients in order to taste good.

This lasagna has been a saving grace for our family, making large portions at little cost. It has also been the meal we have taken to friends and family to celebrate or to cheer up. This lasagna is a delicate mixture of cheese, noodles, and sauce that dissolve in your mouth with every bite. Make a double portion and share with others or freeze for meals later in the month. Even after reheating from a frozen state, this lasagna is to die for! Try it out tonight, and begin to make your own memories with this delicious recipe!

Start by browning and draining the meat. Then, coat the cooked beef with sauce and let it warm on the stove for a little while to marinate the meat.

Time to build that lasagna! Put a small amount of meat and sauce on the bottom of a 13×9 pan, coating the bottom of the pan finely. Next, place a layer of uncooked noodles on top of the light coating. Cover with more sauce and sliced cheese. I like to alternate cheddar cheese and mozzerella cheese within each layer. Top with another layer of noodles, more sauce, and more cheese. Layer once more, creating a three layer lasagna that ends in a cheese topping.

Pour a small amount of water over the entire lasagna and cover with aluminum foil. Make sure the foil doesn’t lie on top of the cheese or the top layer will stick to the aluminum once it’s melted. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes. Uncover the lasagna and bake for another 10 minutes. Once removed from the oven, let the lasagna sit for a few minutes before digging in….even though it is oh-so-tempting to dive in right away! Enjoy with a side salad or dinner rolls!
